This was a fun and interesting talk, Cellphone Lecture pictures... not my favorite but it was a good event.
The speakers were our classmate Mila Corvino, Monica Vega Latona and Jamil Moises Ortañez.
Unfortunately I had a project presentation due my self that day so I missed Mila's talk but I did really enjoy the perspectives of those speakers who I did get to listen too.

Monica, pictured above, was definitely interested not just in Gender issues but also with Social Equality issues. She discussed the difficulty she had trying to make the work she wanted to make within the guidelines of I believe it was our Sac State institution. Which I have also found to be some what tricky when it comes to subjects of diversity and also race relationship here on campus. Sadly sometimes these efforts which are being implemented to encourage equality are I think many times driving in further the wedge of divide.
And definitely also there is the ever-present Subversive hand of the Racist Fucking White Man.
God Danm It.
One of the aspects of Monica's pieces that I really liked was the question she was raising, do I need permission to create this work?
AKA do I need to be gay or transgender to care about these issues or to be an activist in them? Does my skin need to be a certain color for me to give a fuck about what ever the fuck I want to give a fuck about?

The next speaker was Jamil but since my pictures sucked so bad already I just stopped taking them. I'm a Freak of nature
Mmk, Im good with this. People don't always understand, I get this. I have learned to craft myself so that I can slip through the cracks of normality and blend in momentarily with the normal humans.

There for I feel like I understand why Jamil who said she was transgender was basically dressed just like a normal guy (oh shit... what if he was a she. now I feel like an asshole. Fudge). They have there time where they let there Freak Flag Fly, and Holy Shit there were some Great Pictures in there slide show!

I don't always get it!
I don't always know who is who and what they prefer that I call them???
But I do try to understand and to be sensitive and respectful to this.

I don't always know what to say or who to call who...
And you know what, I don't always have to.
These people are fun, they are Vibrant, they are questioning and they are finding there way to embolden themselves and people across the board.
Fucking Love That.
At the end they asked us to make art with them
so I did
then I left because I was F'ing tired.

Eric Adjetey Anang

Eric Adjetey Anang One of my favorite parts about being an Art Student at Sacramento State is the opportunities I have had to work with and get to know visiting artist. Last year it was Shay Church this year it was Eric Adjetey Anang. (Artist Eric Adjetey Anang with student assistants Kojo Gaisie and Chris Duffy) Now this year I didn't get to work as closely on the project with Eric as I did with Shay but I will say this, I have never met a guy who smiles as much and seams as Jolly as Eric! Crocker

The Crocker (Rick Siggins, JuJuiygi 2007, Acrylic on Canvas) I Love The Crocker. (Homeboys, Brian D Tripp 1997 Mixed media) I always like to see there contemporary permanent collection, Its interesting especially after seeing the SF MOMA. Our Museum is good!                     (Charlie Brown Untitled, Bearing the weight#1 Oil on Pasted Canvas) I Feel Like the Crocker is a little more humbler, a little more down to earth. and still basically jam packed with Exceptional works and sweet shows.  I should probably become a member.
